Please join us!!

As part of Push to Walk’s 5th Annual Charity Golf Outing, we have invited Dennis Walters to perform his golf show at Crystal Springs Golf Resort in Hamburg, NJ on Monday, September 24th. This is a show not to be missed! An hour long combination of golf, entertainment and inspiration, it is sure to be enjoyable for everyone who attends. There is no charge to attend the show, which will be at 11:30 am.

It is important for Push to Walk to tie in our mision to each special event we hold during the year. And since this is our 5th annual golf outing, we thought it especially important to add a little somethinge extra to our outing – both to celebrate the 5th year and as a special thank you to those people who have supported us and enabled us to help so many people with spinal cord injuries live more healthy, independent and productive lives.

Dennis Walters sustained a spinal cord injury in 1974, and was determined to continue his dream of playing golf. The show he has developed and travels around the country performing provides him the opportunity to entertain others with an inspirational message. This performance is one of only four appearances in New Jersey this year. Please plan to attend, bring a few friends and enjoy a golf show with a special message. We’re sure you won’t be disappointed!

Check out his website, story and videos: www.denniswalters.com.

Please note that Push to Walk will be closed on Monday, Sept 3rd for Labor Day. Have a safe and enjoyable holiday weekend!

Governor Chris Christie has proclaimed September 2012 to be Spinal Cord Injury Awareness Month in New Jersey. This is very exciting! After more than 18 months of work, writing letters, making phone calls and sending e-mails, an Official Proclamation has been signed and received by Push to Walk. With a group of supporters that include Kessler Institute, The Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation, Dr. Wise Young and Dr. Patricia Morton of Rutgers, United Spinal Association, National Spinal Cord Injury Association and Disability Rights New Jersey, the Governor’s Office responded positively to our request.  It is now official, and will hopefully be renewed each year.

The official proclamation states that “through public awareness and education, the State of New Jersey seeks to minimize the devastating effects of spinal cord injuries among our residents,” and that “increased focus and investments in treatments, research, advocacy and awareness are key factors in improving outcomes and the quality of life for individuals living with spinal cord injuries.” It is now up to us, collectively, to determine how to maximize the positive impact this could have on the SCI population of our state, and use this recognition for the benefit of all. Please help us spread the word to your friends and family, on Facebook, e-mails blasts, etc.

We have a link to the Proclamation on our website homepage – please check it out: http://www.pushtowalknj.org.

Thank you to all those individuals and organizations who helped us get this recognition, and to Governor Christie for his support.

Now let’s do something to celebrate! Any ideas???

Working as hard as I do and have done in the past 5 1/2 years to build Push to Walk to what it is today is all a labor of love, for obvious reasons. But we would never have accomplished all that we have, and helped so many people, without the support of others.

I hope the link to the following video can adequately convey some of the feelings of thanks we have each and every day at Push to Walk. But before you see it, I’d like to express some special thanks to our summer video intern, Brandon Lum, for putting this together; my incredible, wonderful staff; my supportive board members; and our dedicated clients for helping us tell our story – THANK YOU one and all!

Our Thank You Video

Have a great Friday and a wonderful weekend!
